The Au-Pair program is a Cultural exchange opportunity for both Host Family and the person, who wish to become an Au-Pair.

Au-Pairs bring the flavor of their own culture, country and language and the choice could be made from a specific country, which is a part of a Family’s nationality or holiday plans.

                                            

         Au-Pair’s duties and responsibilities:

There is some information about Au-Pair Program in UK:

- Nationals from Bulgaria and Romania need to apply for an Accession Worker Card, which will allow the Au-Pair to stay with a specific family and work no more than 5 hours a day for 5 days a week plus 1 or 2 nights  babysitting. The UK government currently are suggesting these nationals be paid 55 pounds, pocket money,\weekly. If the Au-Pair wishes to hange the family, she/he will need to apply for a new card.

- Nationals from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and Turkey can enter the UK for maximum 2 years if they are between 17-27 and need to obtain visa prior traveling to the UK

- Nationals from the Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Greenland, Faroe Islands and Switzerland can enter the UK for up to 2years if they are between 17-27 years and only need to produce their letter of invitation from the Host Family on entry into the UK.

- USA citizens can not be an Au-Pair in UK; however they could obtain a blue card from BUNAC.

- Nationals from EU member countries :Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania ,Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden can be legally an Au-Pair in UK.

- Nationals from EU member countries who joined in May 2004[except Malta and Cyprus]will need to be registered under Accession State Worker registration Scheme if they work for more than 25 hours a week and intend to work for more than 1 month. Once these nationals have been working in the UK for 12 months they will have the full rights of free movement.

Some Au-Pairs will have a driving license and wish to drive in UK

  • Au-Pair, works 5 days a week for 5 hours, with 2 days off and could do 1 or 2 evenings babysitting, paid by agreement should receive 55 or 65 pounds pocket money a week.

  • Au-Pair Plus, works 5 days a week for 7hours, should receive 75 or 85pounds a week, plus additional babysitting, paid by agreement

  • Au-Pair Mother’s help, works 5days a week for 8hours, should receive at about 140 a week, plus babysitting, paid by agreement

AU-PAIR GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • An Au-Pair is unmarried person with no dependants, between 17 and 27years old. {EU applicants will be considered over this age}

  • An Au-Pair will help you for the children care and will intend English classes, which is the main purpose of becoming an Au-pair.

  • An Au-Pair will wish to stay for up to two years, although six to twelve months is more usual, or just for summer holidays.

  • An Au-Pair could be female or male and will have some childcare experience from babysitting, summer camps or just has got some experience from looking after siblings.
  • Some Au-Pairs will have a driving license and wish to drive in UK
